As EdLeader21's Senior Director, Professional Learning, Sara directs and manages large-scale, collaborative member projects. Sara currently focuses on facilitating collaboration between district leaders and national experts to design an EdLeader21 4Cs Performance Assessment System that meets the demands of Common Core. Sara also coordinates the publication of EdLeader21 editorial content including webinars, blogs and newsletters. Sara previously supported EdLeader21 in the development of a nationally-vetted set of rubrics for the 4Cs, along with a user guide.

Previously, Sara has applied her experience as an intervention specialist and school leader to working with the Buck Institute for Education (BIE). As a BIE Senior National Faculty Member, Sara provided professional development for teachers and school leaders across the United States on project based learning (PBL). As BIE's first District Services Manager, Sara supported three districts with district-wide PBL implementation. Sara supported the development of products for BIE and led the design of BIE's Common Core PBL English Language Arts Academy. Sara is the author, along with John Larmer and John R. Mergendoller, of PBL in the Elementary Grades, published by BIE in 2011.

Sara earned degrees in Elementary and Special Education from Creighton University and a Master's in Educational Leadership from Dominican University. She lives in Dublin, Ohio with her husband, three children and their pet hedgehog, Zola.
